I hereby declare Mass Effect to be the best SciFi RPG EVER.
I just bought Mass Effect 2 and OMGITSSOFUCKINGSWEET! Truly the only game that can make me squeel like a fanboy.
Anyway, anyone else playing this piece of awesome on a disk?

Yes, just finished my second paragon run and I'll now go back to ME1 to make a renegade one (and to get rid of Ashley as I hate her with the strength of a thousand suns :-D ).

Yeah, sexing aliens is much better ;)
Though it always seemed to me she fits a renegade character better with her humans first attitude.

Im so hooked to it right now.
And I loved ME1, but 2 is sooooo much better. There is only 2 things I dont really like, and that are the loading times (which are pretty long and boring) and the recon of planets. You have to scan every planet manually which is fun for the first 5 times, but after that gets a little boring.
Everything else about 2 is just so much better. If you can land on a planet, its no long this boring ride in a car over steep mountains but youll get an actual, specially designed level. The AI has been improved a lot, no longer is everyone just rushing towards you, but they will use cover and such. Also since you no longer have unlimited ammo it makes the fights more exciting to play. And its fun to recognize so much from the previous game.

The mining sucks, big time. The side missions are still kinda lame I think. I also loved the game overall though. Can't wait for the third. I played through with my ME1 import on Veteran as an Infiltrator, mostly paragon.
Replaying now on Insanity with a female renegade adept.. it's pretty hard.

Being a female Shepard, I can't do anything with her anyway :-)

Being a female Shepard, I can't do anything with her anyway :-) lol if you go for the romantic subplot with Garrus in ME2. You get some really hilarious conversation options with Mordin. Then again, they say a lot more funny stuff in ME2. @Shirow, yeah the mining is boring. Imagine the frustration when I accidentally reloaded a wrong save and lost a whole star cluster worth of mining <_< And the side missions are a lot better then they where in ME1. No longer barging in the same identical base, killing identical enemies in the identical room etc. Different ships, bases, etc. Also, is it me, or have they borrowed the respawn enemies till you move forward technique from Call of Duty?

The side missions are better for sure but still mostly mediocre IMO, they all take no more than a few minutes to finish.
Mordin is funny even if you're not playing a female.
I haven't noticed the respawn thing. Sometimes there are a lot of enemies to kill but the wave always stops.. Until the last fight, anyway.

XD yeah, Mordin is funny. His Salarian Scientist song is awesome, and hes afraid of a proped Miranda (shes hawt btw). I couldnt stop laughing when he said that.
anyways, just finished my first play through. Now Im gonna do it again, only on veteran. I want my stats maxed before I even bother with Insane.
And after that Im gonna play it again, only with my other ME1 character. And after that again and again. Might even make some more ME1 characters.

I'm doing Insanity with a brand new character, you get some bonuses for having completed it. It's very hard with a new character.

And I loved ME1, but 2 is sooooo much better. Disagreed. It's prettier, it's sexier, it's easier, but I hate all the mechanics Bioware blatantly stole from Gears of War, I don't see what the point of the And-then-he-fell-into-a-river-and-died-only-to-return-as-his-own-identical-twin beginning is about. It also gets a repetitive feel faster, and that says a lot if you know what driving a Mako was like. I'm being way too hard on ME2 right now. God knows playing through ME2 is the best three days I've had in 2010, but I just think they took a couple of things that weren't broken and fixed them the way you fix cats. Love you for giving ME it's propers though Lexus. Good on ya.

Love you for giving ME it's propers though Lexus. Good on ya. I never understood why everyone was bitching about the Mako. I thought driving around was pretty awesome. It was just to bad the planets itself where a bit boring, but they could have easily fixed that by putting more stuff on it. And stole all the mechanics from Gears of War? They just made the cover system better, and that cover system was around already in the first ME. Only there it did suck (and was kinda useless seeing how the AI never made any use of it and just spammed you to death with their biotics). The resurrection of yourself at the beginning was indeed a bit lame but I suppose it was purely done out of plot technical reasons to get Shepard team up with Cerberus. Ill have to disagree on the repetitive feel though. I had that much more with ME then with ME2. Mainly because they made a specific environment for pretty much every mission, instead of recycling all those underground bunkers and warehouses.

Something about ME didn't click with me. Might have been the graphics or my lack of understanding about how the combat system worked that turned me off after playing the first hour or so.
I really liked ME2, though. It just looked and played a whole lot smoother. I'm on my second play-through now... kept my same character. It's still kinda holding my interest, but I wish there was a way to skip some of the time consuming boring missions. When you're just following another NPC or running around hacking consoles it gets old pretty fast. (I'm referring to the story-telling missions that are the exact same every time you do them. Oh and mining. I agree it's only fun the first few times.)
I'm a little tempted to give the original ME another chance now, too. But there's just so many other games I'd like to play right now and not enough time for all of them.
