Check the myspace profiles or the sites of the groups/acts/people you wanna see. It usually says where they are on a tour and such.
Also check the Promofabrik links on the homepage, it has some interesting stuff about new releases, tours, festival line ups etc. Though I think its mainly European based.

I normally rely on Last.FM for concerts in my area. They have even the most obscure bands in the smallest venues listed there and of course all of the big names as well.
