Hey folks. I apologize if there was a thread for this, but I have been having a problem with song requests. I listen to DG at work throughout the day and once in awhile I will request a song. I know it takes awhile for the request to play, but my problem is that I cannot stay logged onto the site all day. (I play DG through winamp which doesn't require me to leave the site up.)
I would request a song and later to check it to see if it has been played awhile I am away and see that it would be removed from the list but was not played. It also tells me I cannot request another song for the rest of the day.
This is a bit bothersome. I don't know if by signing out, your request gets kicked.. or what, but it does suck a bit when you stream through a player off-site.
I would suggested (if possible, I am not smart when it comes to configuring sites) that instead of the request being kicked when the user signs out, is to maybe have a timer of three hours or something. I know the monitor tries to play the requests in a good amount of time.
Thanks for hearing my concern.

Your request stays in the queue even when you log out.  If it is removed from the list and hasn't played then it is probably about to play.  I've seen the song get removed from the request list and then take another 30 minutes to an hour to play.

logging off the site does not affect a song being not played
also i do stream at work (through itunes) and either close web pages or log off the computer, but sometimes i catch my request being played of course at the time i was not around

i think also that requests are deleted from the waiting list before the song is actually played, so maybe you have not listened long enough for your song to be played

although there were threads already (as you pointed out), i wont make a negative comment on you starting a new thread
however...

i will make a point saying that being all vague does not help one bit!
if you have problems with songs not played after requested, but deleted from the list, for crying out loud be specific about what song title and what band!!111!!1!!tewelve!
there could be the possibility that linking to the actual file are not correct due to whatever reason, thus it tries grabbing it but fails
nevertheless the request has been processed and deleted ... yadda yadda yadda

I know that the song goes off queue when it is about to be played, even if it takes awhile.
I did not list all the songs because it has happened to pretty much all the the ones I have requested except two. Sure I have gotten up and walked away for awhile, but the pass few days, everything is taken off the list and never played.

Thanks.

Kill the thread. Forget I even asked.

I've come to think that while you are outwardly abrasive and perhaps even seemingly mean at times, that, in fact, your ... shall we say more animated posts are somewhat tongue in cheek. I just can't imagine that you actually get all in a twist over this stuff.

Besides, new topics give us more threads to derail. Drift is the keyword though, not epic-doomsday-post-of-slaughter-and-mayhem. :D

No worries, but more detail might have been helpful. What songs have you requested? What time, day? Was there more than one request in queue? Things of that nature. It gives Shirow something specific to look at so that if there is some bug he can find it.

Like what a few folks have said, your request shouldn't be nixed when you log off. I don't think it works that way. It is possible your request isn't being played. I've experienced it myself once or twice, where I would swear the request didn't play but was cleared out.

there are enough topics to derail. An occasional epic-doomsday-post-of-slaughter-and-mayhem should be possible as well.

And well, it almost makes my day reading such posts.
