Critique the new site

Wishlist is re-implemented.. fixing a couple of front page bugs and that should be done.. then I just have to fix up the 'subscribe' page and I think it's ready... now is your chance to bitch about something!

i like how, currently, the home page tells you if you have a message awaiting. Not that i get many messages but i'll miss that.

Also, how does one rate a song? i see a Rating 1 and a Rating 2 in the DB but not clickable. Or am i just being premature and this is something being worked on?

AND i will also miss the 'Recent Forum Topics' from the home page. Very informative and necessary for meself anyway. Is there a reason why you scrapped this? i would think it's something that everyone maybe takes for granted but is used to being there? i only bring it up because i happen to keep the home page minimized at work all day and bring it up routinely 'just to see'. i understand that the same thing is a click away, but it is (was) nice to have all that info in a single page. But hey, you gotta streamline, you gotta streamline. Just this mans opine.

But i still love it regardless. Why? Because DG is what DG plays. i don't care if your site is just a picture of a giant pipe smoking cephalopod multitasking at texting, writing up a bitching letter to one's employer, tentacle-izing a sexual partner, giving a single finger up, masturbating, curling a mocha, lifting weights and tentacle-slapping some politician-governing-authority wielding douche that really has no power over you philosophically - yet psychologically and possibly physically due to your society...(and if someone ever created an actual art of that i would cherish it and set it in the Louvre if i could) ..........i would still listen and subscribe. Because what you do sir - for me as one individual anyway - is priceless and i will always listen.

Now i have to go clean my nose off.....

It's under the 'Community' section now.

Got the song rating system working today. PLEASE try it out, tell me if it makes sense to you.. etc

just go to http://new.digitalgunfire.com, click on Music Database and find an artist to look at. I'm not going to give any more instructions because, if you can't figure it out, it is not intuitive enough :)

No ads on the new site, no ads on the forum either. Don't see the point, they are hardly clicked and they suck.

So, be nice and donate/subscribe.. or just think nice thoughts. I've disabled the forum ads in anticipation of the new site launch (very soon :))

Looks cool - just one thing I was wondering about. After opening the stream up in iTunes and making a request I logged out and the request seemed to disappear from the queue. It showed up again once I logged back in, though - is it just a display thing that you can only see your own request?

Because if it were that the request is only valid while the user is logged in, I imagine that might present problems if the log-in time runs out before the request comes up.

That just shows you the request you have pending. It can't show you your pending request if you're not logged in :)

I like that you can just click the picture on the homepage to rank the current song, but should get more use if you can bring the rankings to the homepage also.  That is if its not too much extra work.  Looks nice.

I know its been suggested before, and maybe you could do it now, but in the music database add a directory for bands that start with a digit instead of a normal letter.


Also, Opera still crashes if I look at the Music database and try to scroll down.

The Opera crashing bug is pretty messed up.. there shouldn't be anything I can do on a website that would crash a browser. I could see if it was rendering something incorrectly, but a crash?

Well thats the point, I always install flash player updates whenever I get them. In fact, Ive installed an update yesterday. I just cant imagine that its because something isnt updated.
Also, all the other sites I visit never show any problems. Cant be that just 1 site crashes the entire browser because something isnt updated properly....
