Boy Saved by Croc Shoes - Zapped with Electric Bolt By Marty Cox Jun 4, 2010
A 3-year-old boy was saved by croc shoes after being zapped with an electric bolt. The boy is lucky to be alive after suffering an electric shock from a faulty hairdryer in a swimming pool changing room.
One emergency worker that treated the child told his mother he believed he survived the fatal electrical shock due to the rubbery fashion items.
Harley Sutton-Dormer was in a swimming pool changing room near his home in Essex, east of London, with his mother when he picked up the faulty dryer, sending a bolt of electricity down his body.
***
The UK Daily Mail notes that his mom "watched horrified as he was given a massive electric shock by the dryer."
She told the paper: "The paramedic said he was really lucky he was wearing Crocs shoes at the time as they stopped the electricity going through his legs and coming out of his feet and probably saved him from serious injury."

Ok, I've got to be a negative nancy and say: any shoes would have provided adequate insulation at 230 V.

But you wouldn't have looked as cool doing it.

~I was just imagining being at a "scene" pool party of sorts~then a pop and the music stops...smoke everywhere...someone saying "I'm ok!"...Don't lie, we all have those moments...

All the "scene" pool parties I've been involved in usually had naked people running about; lots of drugs and alcohol. I totally see this. :D I have electrocuted myself numerous times. The best was standing on a ladder working on plumbing in the ceiling at a restaurant, of all things. Somehow I managed to not fall off the ladder, but it was a wild experience. The pipes had become charged, and caused pin-hole leaks all over. Was a huge mess to fix, including the ones that were leaking under the concrete foundation.

Hmmm...why is it that my mental image involves the smell of burned flesh and vomit and 7 days later a mass funeral?
