Theory is when you know everything and nothing works.
Practice is when things work, and no one knows why.
Here we combine theory and practice.
Nothing works and no one knows why.

I think it would have to be something without harsh synthesized vocals. At first thought I would have said something like As You Sleep by Psyclon Nine however... I distinctly remember the first time I heard them, INRI was the first song I heard and I didn't care for them at all. That was like three years ago, now I listen to P9 all the time, an INRI is probably my favorite song.

The reason why I didn't like them was because the vocals were just... too filthy and inaudible. So now I'm thinking something like Dirty by Rotersand.

It still keeps changing for me.
A moment ago it was Weisse Lilie by Black Heaven.   But now Twilight World by AiboForcent is competing with command.  Will see what else comes up to that level of ( Hey, Check this music out ).....

if you must garner the interest of all the masses it must be something EPIC.

Something with wikked angry stomps and crazy hungry thumps, intermixed with some aria beauty and 'catchy-ness', but with a strong message of politico-socio (generational/timeless based) awareness marked by intense introspection and self-evaluation, encompassing an over-all view of the philosophy of what it is to exist as an entity that has ever-fluctuating impacts on the reality of others. Backed, or Fronted, by layers upon layers of sound that keep you alive; and knowing that you are.

This is how i see 'electro-industrial'. And yes, i still use that term. i cannot see a way to narrow such a movement into a single masterpiece. i stay fast on mine opinion that it really does matter the audience.

Is there really a song that fits? If there is, i can't recall it right now....

Unfortunately i cannot really pin the tail on this donkey, for this ass has far too many holes to judge as un or worthy.

Want/need is specific and ever unforgiving...

Maybe we can create instead a '10' list? There is so much to 'electro' that one song could maybe never encompass?

i still challenge someone to find it. Or create it...

I agree, there's probably neither one question nor one answer to this :)

however, here's some suggestions:

Wumpscut - Capital Punishment
Apoptygma Berzerk - Non Stop Violence
In Strict Confidence - Seven Lives
Birmingham 6 - Policestate
C-Tec - Stateless
Skinny Puppy - Assimilate
Covenant - Northern Light (whole album)
Funker Vogt - Date of Expiration
Mind.in.a.Box - Lost Alone (whole album)
Velvet Acid Christ - Malfunction
some Nine Inch Nails

Believe it or not, I would still go with "Strap me down" by Leatherstrip, even though it has been around so long it has a beard. But hey, that goes for me too. Hocico or Birmingham Six, or Claus at his very best -- definitely in the running.

I will have to tune in the ones that others have listed here.

Is it just me, but I honestly can't be bothered the remember the titles of most industrial or Goth songs. Heck even for Mazzy Star. Most songs are not vastly different from one another, and it just forms a kind of beautiful scrum. I know good or bad CDs, but I look at Industrial as a genre, not a hit parade.

I like it that way, the songs are their own identifiers and bands are good or bad, not so much their specific songs. If a band is good, their songs generally are, if they're duff, so are most of the songs. Very rare to find a standout track on a crap CD, or a bad one from a good band unless it is really early in their career or well past their prime. I can listen to nearly any of the last five or six Hocico albums, recognize all the songs, and can't name one. But I love'em.

Of course amy rule has its exceptions ...
