"Best canadian industrial band", isn't that like saying "most victorious French military victory ... ;)

Nah, kidding, I think there are a lot of really good Canadian bands. Apart from Skinny Puppy I enjoy bands like Ayria, Decoded Feedback, Espilon Minus, Download, and Front Line Assembly. I do have to admit I didn't know that these particular bands were Canadian (google saved me), but now I know that, and I still like them as much as before :)

Otherwise my favorite EBM bands are usually from Germany or Belgium.

Best Canadian Industrial Project?

I don't even know why it needs discussion...it was once Skinny Puppy, now it's Front Line Assembly.  The most recent album and accompanying tour have been nothing short of awe-inspiring. :)

Ayria is great, but it'll take a few sold records to get the production levels up to where they need to be (I think her first record was created on a home PC in her basement or something like that).  I'm stoked to see her live in two weeks here in Austin, though!!!

At our C.O.M.A. 4 festival in Montreal, we had on the first night Distorted Memory, and they are currently amongst my favorite for Canadian industrial, albeit "harsh electro" if we want to dig deeper into the categorizing...
If you haven't heard of Distorted Memory, you should really find their myspace page. The whole album they have released is fantastic, at least to my tastes, and it's non-stop "brutality", although some songs aren't as dark.
Front Line Assembly did a tiny set at their show here because the venue was starting up a damn hip hop night, they could have started earlier though since their opening bands cancelled out. I really loved the percussion they did, when sometimes they'd be 3 drumming at a time.
Skinny Puppy came a month or so ago as well,it was mostly theatrical and what upset me the most was the sound was bad/ couldn't hear his vocals to the point where it was so distorted I had trouble recognizing songs, but I still enjoyed it. However others who saw previous SP tours acknowledged this one wasn't very good.
Ayria is a bit of a joke to me...Though she's a sweetheart, she's really a pop-show...She dances like aerobics on stage and her first album was filled with cutesy pictures of her giving puppy dog-eyes seated on cushions and what not. She definitely knows how to physically present herself, but I'd say she remains "catchy" to me and I can more envision people doing exercise to her music rather than stomping or dancing lol. I saw her live with Psyche back then.I also gotta say that "My revenge on the world" sounds a bit teenage-angsty to me.But I'm too critical :P
Decoded Feedback was also at COMA...and the other nights had a lot of Noise bands, based in Montreal we've got Memmaker,Iszoloscope,Perfection Plastic...and isn't Headscan from here?Im not sure, but Mentat is and I think they did stuff together. So basically the first night's line-up was Low(Mtl),Re_Agent(Toronto),Cenotype,Memmaker,DF,Tactical Sekt,Hocico, and finished off with Distorted M. It was really amazing...

I agree that Ayria is borderline, but so is quite a bit of the stuff I play.

Enough people like that style of music that I feel it's worth playing in small enough doses.

There are a couple great bands from the Vancouver / Victoria that I think are worth keeping an eye on...
Tribal Machine, Goretek, Noise Tribe Zero, FMTA..... and of course as everyone mentioned 2 of the greatest of all time, Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly! And I guess I also have to mention that my band is from Canada too ;)

Peace,
