Is DG going to participate in the proposed internet radio silence on June 26? http://www.lawbean.com/2007/06/23/internet-radio-to-fall-silent-in-protest-on-june-26th/I can go without DG at work for one day to support the cause. After all, one day is better than the proposed alternative... Anyway, if you're going to participate, it might be worth putting a looped track on here - I think you have one that mentions SaveNetRadio.org or something...

It's a good cause for sure. However this only explicitly relates to artists who belong to labels controlled by the Copyright Royalty Board. Digital Gunfires current stance, as stated in the Legal Info is: In regards to the payment of royalties or performance fees to any performance rights agency, Digital Gunfire does not:
# Play music by any artists published by labels affiliated with the RIAA, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or any other performing rights agencies.
What the internet radio folks are trying to get across is that by adding this fee they're not supporting music they're hurting it by having less people hear it. While I really would enjoy to be slaving over Overlord (released this Tuesday) while listening to DG my gaming music of choice, I'd not mind seeing the cause supported, though I think I'd rather just see all the stations stop playing music by the above labels entirely for the long term. As it will have more impact than a single day silence. Just my view. -Atrius

I agree, very little is gained by single day blackouts, unless it effects the functioning of the entire populas. For example, we turn off the gas station pumps or electricity for a day. The movie, "The Day The Earth Stood Still" complete classic would give you a better idea. Since people can survive without internet radio, I highly doubt that anything will be gained from a 1 day blackout. If the black out was an entire week or even a month, I think the situation would be differnet.

Fair enough. Actually, I didn't notice, as I've been listening to a couple of new CD's today. As awesome as DG is, I still need to give some cash to the source, so to speak. So, Funker Vogt and Dunkelwerk should be able to eat something other than Ramen today. ;)

Not an end of the world situation, but enough to piss off more than a few people into contacting the Congressmen, which I think was their goal.
