"Contra-Inception", the third and final album by GEWALT KUBIKZAHL, is now available for purchase.  This is another diverse release of dark electronic music composed from analog gear and performance sessions with actual electronic instruments as opposed to software sequencing.  The release includes 14 tracks of new material, edits, and remixes.  All songs recorded, mixed, and mastered by GEWALT KUBIKZAHL with re-mastering by Daev Andrecht (of Imperative Reaction).  It promises not to disappoint GEWALT KUBIKZAHL fans of the past while attracting new fans alike.  Some of you might be familiar with their song "SAVE US" from last years WEATHERHEAD Compilation from Telegrammetry Records.  If not, give GK a listen at some of the sites below.  If you enjoy what you hear, support the band by buying the album or spreading the word to anyone who you know might enjoy it.
Re-releases of the first two albums are COMING SOON!
Thank you, we appreciate the support!

More information and audio samples from the album are available on the:
"Contra-Inception" Order Page

ps: the music is ok though, listenable, well produced (as far as i can tell from my silly ibook speakers), would fit into the stream of DG

ppps: if you didnt understand the former paragraph you'd better be off with an english term band name

violent square numbers?

y'know, that actual probably works better in english, to an english-speaking audience anyways.

violent square numbers would stick out more in my mind than a german name that I don't understand.

I'm just gonna refer to them as "DeWalt Rubik's Zube".
It's easier to remember and less of a tongue-twister.

About midway through your essay, I almost spit tea on my keyboard from laughter.  You rock.

Two things.  The literal translation wouldn't be "violent square numbers", since KUBIKZAHL stands for cubed, not squared.
Second, the name isn't meant as a literal term.  It's a concept.  I could go through miles of text to explain what brought forth the idea... but instead i'll just tell you it stands for "war".
I would have just named the band war... but that name was taken by a better band than us.

p.s: The original band name was "g3" (the "3" standing for "cubed")... but we were forced to change it for legal reasons.

p.s.s: I would love to show off what all of my one year of german language class in school taught me... but I doubt any of you could tell me where the bathroom is or care to let me know what you think of the weather.

War, cubed violence, numbers for demons...whatever the hell the name is / stands for, its damn fine music. I think it deserves to be on DG, if it isn't already. I can't recall hearing them before, but I like it!

yeah, i stand corrected, at least about the cubed number and not squared

i still think the concept of german words is pretty imbecile and a trend which (hopefully) dies in near future
oh, and yadda yadda yadda "WAR"

That whole, "make your name german to be cool" thing is pretty lame.  When we ended up switching our band name from "g3" to the elongated "GEWALT KUBIKZAHL", we thought for a second how bad it would be to be clumped in with people like that.  But we realized, screw it.  We didn't randomly generate the name to be cool like the kind of people you're talking about.
Think about it for a second.  If we really wanted to pick a german name to make our band "look cool"... there are a billion better one or even two word combinations that people could more easily remember that have a better visual aesthetic than "Gewalt Kubikzahl".  Many that would have avoided the problems we've had in america with people being unable to spell it correctly, much less the horrible attempts to speak it aloud.
Gevalt Zubichel was probably the worst one we've seen printed.  Just to note, it was a flub from the band SLICK IDIOT's website printed next to the listed date we opened for them in Los Angeles some years back.
Trust me, if it was meant to make us look "cool"... it's failed miserably.

Umm... just my thoughts... German is a very gutteral language, and in terms of this genre of music, works exceedingly well.
I don't think it's a fad, so much as a choice of artistic sound.
Can you picture anyone pulling off serious Industrial in Cantonese?
Does that make sense?
Words are so bloody limiting sometimes.
Give me my paints and inks... then words mean less than nothing.
Anyway, that's my .02

I agree. Words just get in the way sometimes. All that is needed in the emotion; the meaning. Without that, we might as well be robots...but I get to be a tiger-bot. With the strength of 10 gorillas.

At the end of the day... your gorilla's worth in strength is all that should really matter.  Sometimes it's just easy to forget the simple things in life, like how much effort it takes to pull someone's arms off.  Damn you George W Bush!
