I know this is not very rivet of me or anything to speak and bring up politics im sure. But my own curiosity has been getting the best of me with this election. And im sure if everyone doesnt know, this election is going to bring forth the beginning of a new time with the new president elected.
So whats the thought. And i know there is more then just US related people on this forum. And i expect alot of US bashing, thats expected. But as it goes this is a discussion. And im just wondering the thoughts on most.
Interesting thought to think its either gonna be a woman or an African American. Im not racist or sexist. Its rather exciting, that after so much time this upcoming election will break the trend of the either "male" or "white" presidential history. Not to mention if Obama is elected, it would be not only a African American but a Muslim as well. And thats quite a step i think in understanding with the US seeing as The war in Iraq gives so many Americans a bad taste in their mouth..
Ill be honest i really dont know who i wanna vote for. But if i had to say anything, and its nothing to do with her being a woman.. But i cant see a Clinton in the white house again.

id think that would rock.. but his poll counts.. are not really making it seem feasible.
But i would like to keep the republicans in the white house ....
That and id like the FLAT TAX to have a chance.. But i think only Huckabee was pushing that.. :(

Obama's not a Muslim. You really think he'd be doing that well if he was? You're giving America waaay too much credit.

Well he might not be technically stated as "Muslim" as his religion now. Because yes i know he is i gues he says "Christian?" But non the less he was raised in a muslim household. His dad was. So heres a lil link to some info on the subject.. it is rather wierd and a lil bit deceiving. http://www.examiner.com/a-534540~Can_a_past_of_Islam_change_the_path_to__president_.htmlProvided its a news links so its possible.. VERY .. thats its wrong. but still interesting.. Heh.. get a kick out of this.. In his second memoir, “The Audacity of Hope,” Obama added: “Although my father had been raised a Muslim, by the time he met my mother he was a confirmed atheist. So ur next President.. could be an Atheist... Very.. interesting..

Only in America would an atheist president be considered something worth talking about.

In his second memoir, “The Audacity of Hope,” Obama added: “Although my father had been raised a Muslim, by the time he met my mother he was a confirmed atheist. So ur next President.. could be an Atheist... Very.. interesting.. Yeah, I had read that or a similar article before. I'm not sure how you're arriving at your conclusions as to him being raised in a Muslim household. From the article you linked: The Illinois Democrat spent much of last week refuting unfounded reports that he had been educated in a madrassa, or radical Islamic school, when he lived in Indonesia as a boy.
When Obama was 2 years old, his parents divorced and his father moved away from the family’s home in Hawaii. Four years later, his mother married an Indonesian man, Lolo Soetoro, who moved his new wife and stepson to Jakarta.
“During the five years that we would live with my stepfather in Indonesia, I was sent first to a neighborhood Catholic school and then to a predominately Muslim school,” Obama wrote in “Audacity.” “In our household, the Bible, the Koran, and the Bhagavad Gita sat on the shelf.”
he was not raised as a Muslim, according to the senator’s office. Nor was he raised as a Christian by his mother, a white American named Ann Dunham who was deeply skeptical of religion.
“I was not raised in a religious household.” Being raised by a Muslim and an Atheist doesn't quite make it a Muslim household. By that logic, I was raised in a Zen Shinto and a Lutheran household; despite me being inside temples and churches no more than a combined total of 20 times.

I'm 50/50, but if I had to be 51/49, it'd be Obama.

Not at all. Just because I have a low opinion of the general populace doesn't mean that I hold much against Obama. I mean, I certainly hold some things against him. He's a politician; I can't vote for him with an entirely clean conscience. However, for me, it's a race between him and McCain. Clinton and her technophobic ways aren't even on the radar as a possibility. If it came down to her and McCain, McCain would have to do something extraordinarily reprehensible to get me to vote for Clinton, like raping a puppy on national television.
