i know this is probably beating an old dead horse thats been beaten and buried and dug up a thousand times but i want to say i work at a Goth Industrial Vamp Club in Second Life. That being said. Whenever we dont have a hot DJ Running their own tunes and spinning our requests we have Digital Gunfire pumping and let me tell you, We just had a HUGE party with 40+ people (kinda high for a non-event, non-dj night) and well... Digitalgunfire kept us warm and toasty and shaking our prims off.

thank you for this!

Amazing station!

if you would have never posted i would have gone on living with much more spare time on my hands...i DLed second life, and i tried it out for a bit.  i was thinking to myself that it was pretty lame, but then i logged on again, and again.  i found a club that plays the sickest music in a submarine.  the club is called sub zero and now i log in almost every night.  now i will go bow my head in shame, hehe.

btw my logon is avarice if anyone wants to have me teleport them to the club...wow, i am now officially lame...*sigh*

Ok, as a former Second Life DJ, I can say that a LOT of places stream Digital Gunfire when they don't have a Live DJ on air.  And yes, it does kick ass there.

I had to finally register a forum account as one of my DJ's pointed me to the Sub Zero post. Thank you for your words, Avarice! =)

To Shirow - Industrial/EBM/Coldwave/Darkwave/Electro.. pretty decent mix of all, depending on our DJ's. We now house our own radio stream when there is no DJ or Live Artist performing. But Digital Gunfire is always our backup if there is an outage. You guys do an amazing job here!

Best Regards,

I've had several conversations with Shirow about Digital Gunfire in Second Life and I think a lot of DJs have improved their musical selections because of what was on Digital Gunfire. Don't feel ashamed, you like music, you like people and you like games/3D... that's cool. Just so you know, there are a lot of clubs to go to in Second Life that play this style of music. I should know, I've DJed a lot of them.

Musically, they are similar but where the big differences lie are in how the club officers and owners treat their patrons when there are personality conflicts or incongruencies in ways of seeing things. Drama kills any scene and there's a lot of it in Second Life. People who have never been managers, managing clubs mixed with drama and the ability to ban at the flick of a finger is a powder keg looking for a spark.

It is a sad thing to go someplace, get to know some people and have drama that gets you banned from the place happen. Remember that you can't ever set foot on the property again when someone bans and mutes you in the heat of an arguement. Many clubs have lost REALLY good DJs because the owners pull powertrips convinced that they're right because they're high on the power to ban and mute.

My advice: when you get banned keep making new characters and telling all your friends who you are. No really, my advice: never get involved with working for a club unless you are friends with them first and that they will talk to you if you ever do have a problem that gets you banned.

Personally: I am taking a break from the whole DJ on SecondLife thing because the drama is so heavy and the owners / officers are so full of themselves. Ban/Mute is being abused and everyone in the scene loses because of it.

Man, I thought SL was dead in 2007, but apparently users are still drawn to it, because the parent company keeps on reporting that financials are rosy. Having a hard time believing that.

When I logged-in in Q1 2008, it was mostly ghost towns strewn with ads for cheap, empty properties, like the quiet, introspective aftermath of a massive neutron bomb attack. I hit one of those industrial clubs and like half the avatars on the dance floor were furries... if you want to see something hilarious, find yourself an anatomically-correct werewolf bopping to Hanzel Und Gretel.

I've actually got a class taught in second life. It's pretty weird. Haven't had any experience with second life before this class, and I gotta say secondlife is a pretty novel idea. Where are the clubs that play digitalgunfire? SLURL?

There are good and bad qualities to everything.

Secondlife has brought me many memories with both attributes, And for that i am grateful.

@Kätzchen, hello there.

You ever need a DJ, let me know lol.  Get bored sometimes, and love to play for a crowd.
