i think i finally did it and fried my beloved ibook

some of you know how *mis*treated it was (missing lettering on the keyboard, the manufacturer's defect of the screen, broken ethernet jack, flashing whenever i move the mains plug)

so ... last saturday i spilled some watermelon/vodka cooler over the keyboard
we turned it upside down immidietly and once i removed the keyboard i have not seen too much liquid inside
so far i have not tried to turn it back on, but 2 days drying should be enough *sigh*
i guess now i cannot stall much longer to get a new one ...

besides that i seriously need some technical help (since it is non dg related i did not want to post it in the technical help forum)
the situation is as followed:
with my move from germany to canada i took with me my gaming consoles (first playstation and the complete genesis system (megadrive, mega cd, 32x))
both systems are made for europe and (besides needing 220volts instead of the north american 110volts) all the games are done to have a PAL signal output

now ... the north american ty system is NTSC, and basicaly im looking for either a converter or a cheap multisystem tv

we tried the converting stuff before with no success (something involving s-video)

going to future shop. radio shack and all the big multimedia stores was unsuccessfull, too
most of the times i got blank stares and people not knowing what PAL even is
the local hi-fi store was somewhat better, but they cannot offer me a solution either

by now im pretty desperate
i could exchange the playstation against something to play import games as well, but the whole genesis system would be a loss and i dont want that to happen (not with the many games i have)

if one of you could either provide me with a solution and/or a multisystem tv i would be most greatfull

and now ... back to work S=

Theory is when you know everything and nothing works.
Practice is when things work, and no one knows why.
Here we combine theory and practice.
Nothing works and no one knows why.

The trouble with those little "converter boxes" is that the output is still at 50Hz vertical sync, and not all TVs will do that.

I know a guy who has a PAL VCR and a bunch of tapes he wanted to watch, so what he did was buy a portable DVD player (with a little 7" screen I think) that supported PAL and NTSC, *and* had jacks on it for input or output (configured via a menu).

After configuring it, he plugged the PAL VCR output into the portable DVD player's input, and voila-- tiny PAL TV.

This solution assumes that 7" is enough for your purposes, of course.
^ That's what SHE said.

(He picked it up for ~$140 bucks in Germany, if I remember right.  The model was "DVD350" or something like that; I forget the brand name)

I think you can buy tv cards that can take pal, you would just have to play them on a pc then.
