Business trip to Yantai in Shandong Province.
We were only here for 2 days, and we head back tomorrow. It was brutal getting out here, I'm hoping the trip back doesn't suck so bad. I did get to see Tiananmen square because of rain delays at the airport, but only for about 45 minutes and it was late. If we get any delays tomorrow we're going to try and go see the great wall.
I'm hoping I'll be able to come back out. There's a lot of cool shit to see here, and our whirl-wind tour has hardly done justice to that.
~Pics Or Vids or it isn't true...I'm joking ;) would be nice if you do tho... I'll [eventually] upload the video I took of traffic in Yantai onto youtube and post a link. It's not nearly as dramatic as some of what I saw, but still interesting to watch, I think. In China, it seems, traffic lanes are only a suggestion. And if all the lanes going your direction are full and oncoming traffic isn't, then oncoming traffic lanes become fair game too. I can't tell how many times our cab drivers drove into oncoming traffic to get around people driving slow or drifting across lanes. Turn signals are also only for show. And not all intersections, even some major ones, have any traffic lights. Those were fun. Jaywalking isn't a "thing" in China either. So, at any given time, if you are driving down the road, you will have people playing human frogger (not kidding), cars weaving randomly into and out of your lane, or driving in two lanes, oncoming cars driving into your lane, and everyone honking their horns. Once their was a guy on a motorcycle just driving through oncoming traffic because it was faster than sitting in traffic on the other side. I thought driving in Greece was bad! Cool, I've been living in China now for 5 months in hefei city, in Anhui Province - inland China. All the drivingstuff you say is really true. It's the same in the south in Guangdongw where I spent a month. The thing about the traffic is this though: Chinese drive really, really slow when you compare it to how drivers drive in the West. So yeah, the road rules aren't really set in stone, but everyone drives quite slow - there is too much traffic to drive fast. I hardly ever see any car accidents. I don't know how driving in Greece is, but In Serbia and Bosnia it is a bit worse i think. The people break driving road rules quite frequently too, but they drive much, much faster - so i think they are worse than Europe. And I think Montenegro or Serbia still has the most car accident related deaths than any country in Europe.

I finally uploaded the traffic video to youtube, linkageLike Tony said, traffic is much slower. There was one car accident that I saw, but it was raining, and away from the city. I didn't remember the radio in the background. What are you doing out in China, Tony? You seem to be all over the place.
