I've been recently contemplating putting up a 192k stream because I get asked about it quite frequently.

It would probably cost me a fair amount of cash to provide, as I'd have to purchase a dedicated box with enough bandwidth to support a good number of users, so it feels to me like the only way I could really supply it to listeners is to charge a monthly subscription fee for access to it.

Does this appeal to anyone? Would you pay a small amount monthly for access to DG at 192k?

I probably would, even though I admit that I haven't listened to the stream very much lately, mainly due to working and crap.

What about a slightly less quality stream, like 160kbps?

Doesn't really seem worth it over 128. I'd have to pay for the bandwidth either way.

As nice as a 192 stream would be I just can't see people paying for it. One of those everyone wants one but no one wants to actually put money on.

Honestly, I don't notice much difference between 128 and 192, so I would say to not bother with it. It is already a clear, clean sound; why mess with it?

My two cents about it, is that I wouldn't be willing to spend for access to a 192 stream. I'm just glad there's a 128, and not just a 96 or something *shudder*.

its an idea, but i too wouldn't pay for it.

a large majority of my listening to the station is at work now... so i can't really turn it up, so i wouldn't notice a differance.

if i could have it in my car.. now that would be a differnt story

Satalite perhaps?

I don't think you can buy your way in. If you could, I'm sure it would be tens, if not over 100 thousand.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way though.

I actually found a way to get DG in your car.

1. Buy Sprint Treo 700p
2. Buy PocketTunes Deluxe
3. Enjoy EvDO speeds + Shoutcast capable player
4. Plug Treo 700p into car stereo with appropriate input
5. Enjoy DG anywhere
