the orphanage

good recommendation, seems like anybody can produce great horror movies except the americans! (who just steal existing movies and remake them with better cgi and effects)

my list:
ichi the killer, battle royale, audition, midnight meat train, any mpvie from the guinea pig series (mermaid in a manhole, flower of flesh and blood, the devil's experiment), event horizon, 1408, kairo, a tale of two sisters ... also pan's labyrinth (although not a horror movies with surprising graphic scenes), house of wax, the devil's rejects (2nd rob zombie movie), the hills have eyes (funny enough the remake wasnt too bad)

some of my favorites (some of which are older):

The Exorcist
Changeling
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original)
Hostel
Silent Hill (probably my favorite video game film adaptation EVER)
Devils Rejects
House of 1000 corpses
Evil Dead (more comedy than anything but you can't go wrong with these flicks)
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Saw
In the mouth of Madness (the more recent version with that guy from jurassic park in it)
Hell Raiser (love the series really)

theres a ton more that i've seen recently but I'm drawing a blank. hopefully I can remember some of them (I watch way too many horror flicks :P )

Hostel

some of the worst horror movies ever when you think of the actual movie in regard to filming and plot and the hype they made about it
lyk ZOMG most brutal/graphic horror movie EVA

my ass, even house of wax showed more graphic scenes than hostel (i just remember the scene of the girl's finger getting cut off when trying to reach through a gully cover)

I have yet to see what 2girls1cup is about, but after staying blissfully ignorant to tub girl for quite some time and then having such a horrifying revelation I think I will opt to remain ignorant to the former.

I think the horror aspect is hostel was overated, but a fairly good concept that had the coke fiend Tarintino's interest in the film. Rob Zombie's fims are way better and pretty fukin warped. I havn't seen his remake of Halloween yet...has anyone else?
