Hey, I'm looking forward to get this game! NCSoft used the CryEngine so the graphics enthusiasts are pleased, and NCSoft also developed some other great games: 'Guild Wars', 'City of Heroes', 'City of Villains', etc. So I'm sure AION will be a top-seller for 2k9! Just paying a monthly fee is annoying to me, since I don't have to in Guild Wars ...

It is rather hyped to be the next big thing for MMOPVP, but we'll see. I'm sure I'll give it a go for a couple months.

I've been curious about it myself, but have some reservations about it being all "show and no go". I'll probably wait and see what the reviews are and peoples take on the final release when it does come out.
Personally, I don't play that many MMO's because they get a little tedious after a while. Tried FF XI and didn't like it even though I'm a big fan of their other games. Anarchy Online was a little "ehh". Everquest is not that bad .WoW is pretty good, but I could never get that into it. Right now I'm playing Warhammer Online which I am in love with.

A buddy of mine is freaking out about it, but I don't see much to get excited over. It's just another time-sink with no reward for your endless hours of grinding. I loved Anarchy Online's premise and setting, but the pointlessness killed the experience for me.
I'll stick to Team Fortress 2. At least I can win that.

DNA, they said, was the key to our rebirth. Tiny, invisible microbes pulled from the soil of our war-torn era and combined with a metal-borne virus to create a new breed of monster.
Something more than man, something less than human.

probably won't play it... I got my MMORPG dosage for a decade with WoW, will need something really special before I enter into that area again...
also I hated pvp in WoW, so if this is WoW v2 with more pvp focus, then chances are mathematical zero of seing me there...

I got the beta from Best Buy and the Beta isn't available unless there's some kind of special event going on.
apparently though, from the 6th-13th they were supposed to be up for the File Planet people.
It looks amazing, and the $14 isn't that bad of a price to pay.. Not one for PVP, but I may have to give it a try.

looks boring, sounds boring, so Im not gonna waste my time on it. No good sirs, I have been much to busy building the ultimate theme park in Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 (with expansions of course) studying neuro psychology and in the gaps between that, raiding dungeons in Oblivion, trying to figure out how the hell Arma II works, exploring the dark depths of the interwebz and painting warhammer.
How can any game developer even think I have time for such a thing as an MMORPG?

I've played it a bit now (up to level 10), and I think it's pretty decent. It all depends on endgame though... in the PvPvE thingie... PvP zones where guilds try to take control of castles... and raids to get siege engines for pvp...
sounds boring and closed-ended, but it's hard to say - not a whole lot of info out there...
It's really over-crowded though...

My wife and I just purchased It and are at level 13 or so. I can honestly say that It is much better than WoW (that game took about 9 months of my life) and better than EQ 1 or 2 (7 years stong as a warrior). Aion incorporates alot of good aspects of WoW and EQ and is a more mature version of the two. The fact that you can fly is a nice bonus, but the real enjoyment comes from playing on servers with little or no gold spamming or childish night elf rouge chatter. It's a game for adults. The only real downside I see so far is the confusing battle between 3 factions and how to get geared up between them all, but I am sure I will figure it out. I'll keep this thread posted on the outcome when I hit 50 (max level cap). But, well worth buying and playing at this point.
