DNA, they said, was the key to our rebirth. Tiny, invisible microbes pulled from the soil of our war-torn era and combined with a metal-borne virus to create a new breed of monster.
Something more than man, something less than human.

A little variety won't kill you. I happen to like it, and it doesn't sound like it would be terribly difficult to get "genre-packs" in the future.

Customizable, sharable acts with mp3 uploads would be incredibly cool.

I agree, but think about the workload on the two developers. Also keep in mind that they made each track by hand, and would have to do some monster coding to be able to strip even a high quality MP3 down to its constituent parts. Not to mention the copyright and bandwidth nightmare that would entail.
Desktop client: Very doable. Logical next step in my opinion.

Oh yea, parsing MP3 files would be a monumental task. Also, it is unclear whether users would actually take the time to compose and compile their own MP3 tracks, how they would do so, etc. They'd be better off trying to partner with someone like: http://www.jamstudio.com/Studio/index.htmto import user-composed tracks direct. Adobe AIR makes desktop aps a whole lot easier for Flash developers, but I've yet to screw around with it.
