Apathy or Indifference? Who knows; who cares?

just wondering.  lots of people in this scene have former military and law enforcement ties, including myself with both.  many of us tend to also be martial artists, also like myself.  many of us tend to be gun nuts, also like myself.  i was wondering what the chances are of having such a forum section...  just curious.

Well, I'll tell you what - start some threads about these topics in 'Off Topic', if it starts becoming mostly those kind of discussions I'd be happy to start a new board.

Heh, so there's more than one of "us" around here!

I'll be checking back for some military/industrial goodness in the future in that case.

I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning!  (really, I do)

It ranks right up there with hickory smoke and ozone.

Laser printers and thunderstorms

EDIT: Not so much on the laser printers anymore unless it is old.  Most have an ozone filter now.  Ozone is actually quite harmful to breathe.  Ozone has that "fresh" smell about it.  Best way I can describe it.

I'm in the same boat as Lexus: Always been interested in guns, but never fired one, and don't want to join the military. I'm wayyyy more interested in knives, though

LOL, burning phosphorous?!  I can see that.

Can't say knives tickle my fancy, but I understand the interest.  I have a couple, but they fall under "backup plan".  :D

Im a big supporter of 'peace through superior firepower'

But, weapons are all illegal over here, including most knives. Only people from scouting can actually carry knives on the street as long as they arent to big and you dont do dumb things with them.

sometimes I really wish I live in America. Id get myself a G-36C, that weapon is sexy.

Heh, America is *not* the place to go to get a G36C, thanks to our asinine import restrictions.

Plenty of AR15/M16 platform rifles to go 'round tho.  TONS of parts and upgrades =D

Im Dutch. The only way to fire a gun here is by joining a shooting club, but they only use rifles and pistols and you cant take those with you. Or by joining the army, but then you get a Diemaco. But yeah, joining the army isnt really an option for me.

Aww damn, then to what country do I have to move in order to get my hands on G36?

Are there any countries that you'd want to live in that allows automatic weapons?

Even over here, anything manufactured before May 19, 1986 is considered marginally "safer" than after.  That is to say, in 1986 new automatic weapons were banned and anything existing prior was grandfathered.  It was an amendment (The Hughes Amendment) that was added at the last minute to the Firearms Owners Protection Act which was intended to prevent regulatory abuse by the [now] BATFE (bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms, explosives). There was a bit of controversy about how the amendment was added, but frankly, we gained more than we lost with the FOPA.

For about $15-18k, with a NFA license, U.S. citizenship, and a clean record, you can legally own a used, presumably fired, registered M-16.  However, I'll go on record as saying it's not as sexy as the G36c (don't tell my ar15).
