as i was never in berlin i cant help you, take a trip to hamburg and i'd be more helpful


ok, so here is also what might be of interest of you, some of it just because it is german and not necessarily berlin-like
- get a "Berliner Weisse mit Schuss" [ok, that's something typically berlin-ian and you should be able to decide between "Himbeere" (raspberry) and "Waldmeister" (sweet woodruff)]
- go through an "Aldi" (cheap bulk-style grocery store)
- take some sort of public transportation system, underground if possible and meet lots of crazy people (can also be established in a coin operated laundromat)
- have any style of "Bratwurst"
- definitely get "Pommes rot/weiss und Currywurst" (definitely the Currywurst!)

pfft, medical studies...  I believe in natural selection of brain cells.  I drink, therefore the weakest braincells die and only the strongest remain; ergo, I become smarter.  :D

Speaking of München, when I was between flights at the airport there, I ordered a local brew from a cafe.  It was tasty.

Not so sure about brain cells, but in terms of antioxidants (tied to longevity studies), even the darkest beer has significantly fewer than a glass of cranberry juice. And you'd have to drink A LOT of wine to get the same amount of antioxidants in a glass of grape juice. So there are a lot easier, less expensive ways to get antioxidants.

There are other qualities that fruit juice lacks (anticlotting), but note that longevity studies do NOT recommend STARTING drinking, they only recommend the TYPES of alcohol to SWITCH to: darker beer and redder wine.

Realistically, cancer risk is the more important issue:

The research team found that regular heavy consumption of beer and spirits – meaning 180 drink-years or more – increased the risk of esophageal and liver cancer more than sevenfold.

In a nutshell, the study found that having more than one drink a day is risky, and that having one drink a day instead of seven over a weekend is healthier. So, in addition to being classy, savoring a dark ale is healthier than chugging piss.
