That is an ugly pencil.

Sometimes it's the ugly pencils that work the hardest for you....because they know they are ugly and you make them feel special by keeping them...   ;P

Anyway, some more good lucks and congrats thrown your way Drew. And you should definitely shadowbox that sucker...
227  General / Gaming / Re: old school on: December 09, 2009, 07:25:45 pm
i also sold my consoles over the past few years. Now i just have my PC. i stay with my brother currently and he has our old Atari 2600 from when we were younger. When he hooks it up to his 52" it looks like shite but it's both hilarious and nostalgic. It's hard to believe we ever thought that that was cutting edge technology. And my oh my how wearing it is on the wrists and hands using those old joysticks compared to today's more ergonomic controllers. It's great for some laughs, but i will confess to being a graphics and sfx whore any day =P
228  General / General Discussion / concerning reviews on: December 07, 2009, 11:07:23 pm
Query: When an individual submits a review is it able to be overridden by said individual and/or edited? Or is it a one time, one chance contribution?

***exemplify....
status: begin...****

Let's say i want to click a few or more stars on a particular song, yet i really want to give an in-depth analysis of said particular song - or even album it shines from - at a later time, when i can properly collect my thoughts and contribute the time it so deserves. Can i then go back later and create/adjust/edit/change a commentary though i have already entered a 'star' review?

i realize that the rating system is in flux at the moment; my query refers to the current incarnation of the system. Any future developmental insights are, of course, a boon.

***status: end...***

damn, i get bored sometimes =)

But as for these guys deliberately trying to create the "Most Unwanted Song", I'm not impressed. They could've just spliced together every theme song played at Disneyland and that would've done the trick...

Nice one, very touché

Well most times in the past 3 weeks i've been here it seems to work flawlessly, other times, it's what i was ranting about.

Not sure how to digest and interpret it as kbps, but should i assume this is not good?

now mind you, i've been running the subscriber for 28 minutes currently with only one few second buffer and no cut off (so far), which is far better than it was the previous few hours. Maybe it is because i'm running a connection off of a Verizon aircard and the more cell traffic in the area, the worse my connection gets? The local Verizon tower is the only available connection for cellular and internet service on this entire mountain.

You guys can all go fuck an ostrich.

Oh man, that made me laugh so damn hard.

i imagine they are damn hard to catch, but i do hear tell that if you do, it's quite the bit of ecstasy....
;P
232  General / Technical Support / Re: requests/now playing queue on: December 07, 2009, 09:16:53 pm
This is not necessarily directly related to my initial inquiries, however...
Of course, i had to open and type my fukkin mouth off and say that i had no problem streaming the subscriber line and, of course, now i seem to. i have a bad habit of too oft forgetting Thom's Law, which is way worse than Murphy's; the universe will do anything it can to fuck me over at the first second that i even remotely perceive that it could be possible that a situation or circumstance might, perhaps, just be kinda maybe going in the general direction of my favor.

Couple that with the fact that i am convinced that there is some sort of minor electro-magnetic interference field coursing through my veins and technology just plain hates me.

Though it could be that there is a lot of Verizon air traffic as i type and that is causing the problem. But the 192kbs stream keeps buffering after every 30 seconds or so and after doing so for 4 or 5 times just simply stops and i have to reconnect. The 128kbs stream seems to last longer before dropping out. Hell it might even have something to do with the 'Virtual Memory Low' window that has popped up the last couple of days, but i'm more PCtarded than not, so i don't even know what that means or how to fix it. But i should probably post that in it's own thread.

The only reason why i'm even bitching out loud about it is because i had a rough day and i missed my first request - which i was really looking forward to - because of this shite. i don't have my own PC where i am right now, which means i don't have my music catalogue with me to listen to particular songs when i might want to. So DG is all i have and when it's getting interrupted on me (believe me i know it's nothing to do with the site) i feel like getting in a cage match with a celestial avatar, quite confident that my rage will win me out.

ok, rant is done.

Didn't realize it reset at midnight CST, that could explain it. Thanks man
236  General / Technical Support / requests/now playing queue on: December 05, 2009, 10:40:32 pm
so i'll tackle 2 birds with one thread...

Firstly i just want to say that neither one of these is a complaint. In the years i have been listening since i was first fortunate to find DG, i have never had, nor do i ever forsee having any sort of real complaint. From heavenly harmonics to sonic stampedes, the auditory bliss is blessing indeed. Dare i say i am in love with DG? Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps? Can one make love to DG? Oh my, yes, and have i!

er, ahem

*excuses himself to clean all the ass-kissing from his face...

Anyway i was just curious about the 2 request benefit for subscribers. i've noticed that occasionally after one request it states that i have used up my requests for the day. But it is not constant nor consistent. Oh, DG, are you just playing hard to get?

Also the 'now playing' seems to be non synchronous with the song that is actually streaming. Now, mind you it could be that maybe it's fault on my end, as i'm making use of a rather older laptop with a not so great processor. However i have no problems streaming the subscriber server. But either the 'now playing' is one song ahead of what is streaming or what i am listening to is one song behind what it should be. Oh, DG, how you love to tease me!

thanks for reading...

i'll make mine simple then....any chance of getting Burning/Dancing off of Faderhead's FH! added to the list? i love the whole album but that one might possibly be y favorite on the album. It's definitely the hardest song on the album, but not, methinks, too hard for DG by far. Pleeeeease....   =)
239  General / General Discussion / Re: CANCER on: December 02, 2009, 12:16:14 am
I just lost my Mum. Cancer sucks is an understatement. She was diagnosed in the ER. In 5 short weeks it spread like wildfire through her. Hugs to all going through this now, sufferers & families alike.
I am circulating the link to this compilation on facebook and will be getting a copy.

So sorry to hear about your Mum. Parental loss can be amongst the hardest. My dad passed from it in '96, less than 3 months after diagnosis. My Mom's fiance, 4 years ago and within 5 months. i'm so sorry you had so little time, but i can only hope you made the best possible of it. i know it might sound trite, but i think it really is important, oft times for the families'/survivors' psyche more than the sufferers'. Mayhap morbid, but truer than most realize. Hugs back and definitely....
