New releases from Front Line Assembly next month!
« on: May 27, 2010, 11:20:47 PM »
Two new releases from Front Line Assembly are due out. They've reorganized the members and it sounds to me like they're back to their earlier industrial roots that I first liked them for. The last couple of albums haven't done much for me; I thought Initial Command sounded more like a Delerium album. :-|

Ministry's Al Jourgensen also worked on the track "Stupidity".

Shifting through the Lens and I.E.D.

Samples of three tracks are on the Shifting link above.

I wouldn't consider "Initial Command" one of their last couple of albums, given that it
was their first :) - the last albums were Civilization and Artificial Soldier

Sweet! haven't been able to find samples before - sounds like the bastard
child of Noise Unit and Millenium :)

really looking forward to this :)

Ugh, this -->brain fart<-- how embarassing.
(let's draw attention to my mistake!)

I got a Cleopatra re-release and didn't notice; I haven't heard their oldest stuff and didn't check. :-o I didn't think it sounded very FLA-like. I hope it's a trend. I was starting to think Bill Leeb had permanently abandoned FLA in favor of Delerium.

Current members for the new album/single:
Bill Leeb
Chris Peterson
Jeremy Inkel
Jared Slingerland

No Rhys Fulber.

No Rhys Fulber.

Damn, didn't even think about that :/ - My FLA = Bill + Rhys - it might be more
industrial'ish with Chris Peterson, but Rhys is the one behind the layered patterns...

Ah, well... iirc there's a Conjure One album coming up soon....

Bought the single - and it doesn't sound like the bastard child of Noise Unit and Millenium.
It sounds like Epitaph, with some influence from Artificial Soldier.

Amazon US has samples up on the full I.E.D. deluxe album with the extra tracks.

Can't buy Shifting yet on iTunes or Amazon on their US sites that I could find but there's always the UK site where it seems to be available but with the typo on the album name. "Stifing Through The Lens"

Looks like Amazon has US availability of Shifting Through the Lens at 08-June-2010. I.E.D. has availability on 22-June-2010 for both US and UK. I don't see the deluxe listed on the UK site yet.

The "Stifing Through The Lens" album is also on iTunes in the UK.

Edit: Euros are cheaper if you are in the US. :-)

i've been quiet thus far about this...

But i've been a Lover of FLA since '94, and, yes i missed the inceptive years, but i became a lover nonetheless. Next to Trent (which i am certain will find no love here, especially because of the past couple of years), Bill Leeb is my sonic Icon. The best thing he ever did for himself was to leave Skinny Puppy

That being said...  FLA has changed styles over the years...sometimes for the better, sometimes...different. But i will always think of FLA as mine seminal sonic sufferance.

i am whet with anticipation...

i'm no member-whore (and yes, i HATE that word), but i was at that show in Detroit at Magic Stick and ...i say "HELL YES!" You can see it on the interwebs (mine own personal joke). Courtesy...well figure it out...

All i can say is, don't hate FLA, and FrontLine Assembly -along with SKINNY PUPPY.

They pretty much made this music for you, hope you enjoy it...
i can only please one person a day. Today is NOT your day. Tomorrow is not looking good either...

I purchased the three tracks from iTunes UK and I can't listen to it at all! iTunes mangled the tracks so I have to wait for a credit to try again. :-(

From the samples I'm really looking forward to the full album next month!

I haven't gotten the impression anyone here is hating on them. Well, apart from mentioning Eden Synthetic Corps. :-o

Lol, didn't notice that when I bought the single... anyway, the FLA crew is notorious for
typos - IIRC they haven't released any album without a typo in the album art, and I think
there was a Synaesthesia album way back without a single correctly spelled word :)
