OK, I don't THINK this is on DG, in fact I'm 99.99% sure it isn't, but maybe you can help me figure this one out, anyway.

The song features heaven & hell combo of melodic female vocals and gritty male vocals, and has ABACA architecture, as those tracks typically do. Well... not KMFDM-gritty, but gritier than the female vocals. Not a lot of distortion on either. The whole thing is in 4/4 time, so it's not very danceable.

It starts out with some minimalist synths, then gets heavier as the looped basework chugs into a creshendo where male and female vocals actually sing the refrain, and they DO IT AT THE SAME TIME. There's a LOT of synth going on here, percussion is barely present at all, though guitars are definately chugging upbeats and break in several times for effect.

During the bridge, the rhythm accelerates as guitarwork goes haywire as a brassy sound playes counterpoint.

The lyrics are kind of trashy - not Angelspit-trashy - but the song is unabashedly about humping. Can't remember the lyrics very well, something about "Cause we seem to understand the urgency" and "searched through every open door".

Any ideas?

Hmmmm, that's not the one. I can definately see the parallels, there, with the female/male combo and upbeat synths, but the track I'm thinking of has more synchronous vocals and the lyrics are less abstract. And unless Promised Land's meaning is escaping me, its lyrics aren't dirty at all. "Searched through every open door," indeed. Probably some back doors, too... :D

The synths on the track I'm thinking of were dated, most definately pre-millennial, perhaps just a little cheesy. This might be old school, not sure.

Well, the original song is at least "The time of my life". Yep, the one from the classic Dirty Dancing movie. The lyrics you've posted are the exact lines from that song. The version you are looking for is probably a cover of some sort.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SLWzZoDmhg

Quote
Boy: Now I've had the time of my life
No I never felt like this before
Yes I swear it's the truth
and I owe it all to you

Girl: 'Cause I've had the time of my life
and I owe it all to you

Boy: I've been waiting for so long
Now I've finally found someone
To stand by me

Girl: We saw the writing on the wall
As we felt this magical fantasy

Both: Now with passion in our eyes
There's no way we could disguise it secretly
So we take each other's hand
'Cause we seem to understand the urgency

Boy: just remember

Girl: You're the one thing

Boy: I can't get enough of

Girl: So I'll tell you something

Both:This could be love because

(CHORUS)
Both: I've had the time of my life
No I never felt this way before
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you
'Cause I've had the time of my life
And I've searched through every open door
'Til I found the truth
And I owe it all to you

Girl: With my body and soul
I want you more than you'll ever know

Boy: So we'll just let it go
Don't be afraid to lose control

Girl: Yes I know whats on your mind
When you say:
"Stay with me tonight."

Boy: Just remember
You're the one thing

Girl: I can't get enough of

Boy: So I'll tell you something

Both: This could be love because

(CHORUS)
Both: 'Cause I had the time of my life
No I've never felt this way before
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you
'Cause I've had the time of my life
And I've searched through every open door
Till I found the truth
and I owe it all to you

*Instrumental*

Boy: Now I've had the time of my life
No I never felt this way before

(Girl: Never Felt this way)

Boy: Yes I swear it's the truth
and I owe it all to you

Both: 'Cause I had the time of my life
And I've searched through every open door
Till I've found the truth
and I owe it all to you

Both: "cause I've had the time of my life
No I've never felt this way before
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you

reading is of an advantage!

in this case the thread does not even span 3+ pages so it would have been easy to keep up with what is going on instead of looking at the first and maybe last post

Alright, I dont feel like making a new topic about this.

Maybe you guys can help me here. THIS IS ALSO NOT PLAYED ON DG! Before you get it all wrong. Its not even industrial or something.

All I remember is the video that came with the song.

First one is a camera going over a landscape only pretty quick. However the landscape is getting weirder and weirder as the track progresses, with more and more strange forms and geometrical figures appearing. The video ends in a sort of desert with lots of brightly colored balls bouncing up and down and in the end the world falls apart in big brightly colored cubes floating in the air.

It was quite a popular song about 5-6 years ago I think.

Please help me, what song was this from who and if you can find it on youtube or something Id love you till the end of times.

I have definitely no idea about this one. I haven’t heard of it before. But I am sure that there would be easier to find if you would give us more information. Like when did you hear it, narrow it down to what year is it produced, an approximation will do. I am sure there will be one of us that came across this track. Good luck on your search though, hopefully you will get something.
