I decided to play around with PHP a little today, and created a forum signature image that anyone is free to use.

Here's what it looks like:

Link is http://www.digitalgunfire.com/signature/sig2.png

Feel free to use it for whatever you want. I'd appreciate it if you'd link it back to digitalgunfire.com.

I'll be doing some more work on it to try and make it look nicer. It updates every minute.

Enjoy :)

There's also an older style one which still updates:

lol

it read "painbastard - system failed" when I saw this thread. I thought the logo didn't work until I checked my Winamp and saw that that's actually the title of the song played at that time :)

Heehee, now someone needs to form an industrial band named "ERROR404" and put out songs titled "Page Not Found" and "Transmission Error".

Seriously though, that is super cool!  Is it written in native PHP?  Would it be any help if I wrote up some, say, Java AWT code that took a string parameter, rendered it over the DG logo, and spit out an image file? (or as a byte stream?)

I'm also curious whether you're running the updater EVERY minute, or just triggering a "regenerate image if needed, if not just return the already-generated one" each time there's a request for that URL?

(Yeah, I'm underemployed and need a hobby)

Yes, the image is dynamically generated using php/gd. Every minute, I run a shell script to check the song title and generate a new PNG file.

If you need a hobby there are ways I could put you to work ;p

No, I don't mind, use it all over.

If you do it like this:

Code:
[url=http://www.digitalgunfire.com][img]http://www.digitalgunfire.com/signature/sig2.png[/img][/url]

It will link back to the site also.

That's "WWW.DIGITALGUNFIRE.COM" in a 3x-magnified Apple][ font, green-on-black with simulated monochrome monitor effect.
This bboard doesn't support attachments, but if anyone wants to see it I can email it to ya as an attachment.
