That is one thing I like about the Sennheisers I have.. modular cable. If it messes up, just pull it out and replace it myself.

Aye, they are god's gift to work-based music junkies :p

The only headphones I've been able to use without getting pissed off is the Koss UR40's.
Incredibly comfy. The sound wears off after a bit, so requires being replaced from time to
time - but they're not too expensive so I can live with that...

Most headphones are just numbers and letters to me, brands like Skullcandy are the only ones that stick in my mind. And yeah I have some Skullcandy 'chops' which are basically just over the ear headphones I use on the move. At home I play my music out loud, I was thinking of getting some skullcrushers incase I do need them, but it's alot of cash for something I'll use a few times a month at best.

Skullcandy headphones may look cool, but they definitely do not deliver on the sound quality like a comparably priced pair of Sennheisers, Beyerdynamics, etc. For under $50 you can get some pretty sweet cans

Wow. A very interesting topic.  Not just the shotgun part, yet I still like to have fun with my Mossberg Avenger.
Anyways it drew my curiosity to read what you enthusiasts said.  Koggen, you definately know the language of sound.
I have been using headphones for more active kinds of things like skateboarding, snowboarding or mountain bike.  Anything for condition training where I have gone from cassette walkmans to CD and now my little sansa that was real cheap.   I have always had a decent enough system at home to be content with sub base, so I have never really needed studio quality.  But on my bike I have gone through dozens of sets over the years.  Always over the head as I wear them underneath my helmet,  or cap if in the gym
Besides the fact that my latest set is JVC over the head and on top of the ears but small enough to wear under cap.  The point I am making is that with a cap or helmet over the headphones.  No matter what kind they are.  With a cap on top and pressing them into me ears.  I get twice the sound and base.  And I like to reinforce the stereo mini plug that goes into the sorce with electrical tape to reinforce the wire connection.  With all my bike crashes.  That was always where the headphone wires would come undone.  It is not so bad now with my small sansa clip.  But after a crash with the casette or CD and then picking up the batteries and stuff to get back on the go.  Riding home with sound in only one ear really sucked.  Put the tape on really tight where the wire goes into the plug.  That will give your headphones some more time in life.

I think newegg.com nevertheless has 580's in stock, these people were about $150 when I had gotten them. I haven't tried any Sennheisers however I'm positive the 595's could well be awesome.

I picked up a set of Grado 225's and a Creative Sound Blaster USB DAC with headphone preamp.  It sounds great and works great for listening through my work computer.
