that's kinda frightening.... i wonder how real of a possibility this is if the us government is willing to let this get to print tho... it's kinda like saying "here's the win button and how to push it, come kick our asses!"

Because in order to get the funding to do anything about it, they need something scary enough to make people scared. The actual threat is probably horribly overstated, but by making it out to be a doomsday scenario, they're going to get the green light to do whatever they want to keep it from happening.

The Sahab 3 doesn't have the range to even hit Europe from Iran, how on earth would the Iranians get a frigate close enough to American shores to launch an effective EMP strike?  Even IF they had a nuclear warhead capable of doing so...  That frigate would be at the bottom of the ocean before it was within 3000 miles of U.S waters.

For that matter why would they want to cripple one of the largest, oil dependent economies on earth given the fact they are the 2nd or 3rd largest oil exporter in the world?

Seems like fear mongering to me. *hears drums off in the distance* (or are those the galloping of 4 sets of hooves? :) )

*edit: I also found it comical that its suggested that al qaeda has 80 frigates capable of launching ballistic missiles. what a joke.

It's not so much mind control as it is the fact that the majority of tax payers have no idea how the federal budget should be spent and anything that seems out of the ordinary needs something scary tacked onto it to make it fly, regardless of how important it is. That's how most environmental laws got passed and budgeted for.
