i think you're lacking the intellect since you cannot type out "are" already (from all the words you used!)
this is not a cell phone, your isp wont charge you for the extra letters nor will you be restricted by character count

ps: just so my post was not in vain, i think goths are an extinct species and true goths are only resident in europe, the american goth variety (and i have to admit some of the uk) seem like ravers getting into army and nurse role playing and forgot to leave the neon coloured glow stick waving train somewhere in the 90s
emos are goth "light" with more hot topic clothes and the inability to express themselves otherwise than "ZOMG i am so serious, life sucks, i am so speshual and the individualestest person on earth ... gotta cut myself"

as you can see, i am neither emo nor goth and my opinions are totally off the chart

pps: kittens, watermelon flavored lollipops and walks under a starlit sky on the beach are alright, too

Theory is when you know everything and nothing works.
Practice is when things work, and no one knows why.
Here we combine theory and practice.
Nothing works and no one knows why.

I have to concur that the American understanding of 'goth' differs greatly from mine. Having dyed black hair, black clothes from Hot Topic and black eyeliner doesn't make you a 'goth'.. especially if you listen to Linkin Park

Last time I was at Hot Topic, they were playing Weezer, and I was like, "Where have I been?"
They took my Metropolis off the shelves, too. :/

I think goth was an 80s kool. Its was something Europe had been doing for a bit..and true goths died with the 80s. What was left was a new generation.. that was great, until bands like nin and manson exploited it..and the media popularized it..into somethign it wasnt, creating  pre-teen rebellion.. that destroyed the remaining goth scene and left with us what we have today, The mallgoth. Which is the only goth most ppl..know.

and emo is the new preteen rebellion. Which was exploited the same way. And blended by the same ppl with mall goth.

Me being 23, I had goth and mall goth and grundge.

Younger kids. Have poppunk and emo.

Wow this thread sucks and is awfully misinformed. Goth is certainly not dead in America. There were several goth events this past weekend in Chicago(a few of which I went to) and there are many more all over the country. And these events contained "real goths" not just "mall goths" or "wannabe goths" or emos or whatever people are labeling everyone. But real goths from the 80s and 90s and 2000s. Just because you don't know any doesn't mean they aren't around.

I miss the good old days of arguing politics and religion. Can we start those threads next?

coin operated boy
sitting on the shelf he is just a toy
but i turn him on and he comes to life
automatic joy
that is why i want a coin operated boy

made of plastic and elastic
he is rugged and long-lasting
who could ever ever ask for more
love without complications galore
many shapes and weights to choose from
i will never leave my bedroom
i will never cry at night again
wrap my arms around him and pretend....

coin operated boy
all the other real ones that i destroy
cannot hold a candle to my new boy and i'll
never let him go and i'll never be alone
not with my coin operated boy......

this bridge was written to make you feel smittener
with my sad picture of girl getting bitterer
can you extract me from my plastic fantasy
i didnt think so but im still convinceable
will you persist even after i bet you
a billion dollars that i'll never love you
will you persist even after i kiss you
goodbye for the last time
will you keep on trying to prove it?
i'm dying to lose it...
i want it
i want you
i want a coin operated boy.

and if i had a star to wish on
for my life i cant imagine
any flesh and blood could be his match
i can even take him in the bath

coin operated boy
he may not be real experienced with girls
but i know he feels like a boy should feel
isnt that the point that is why i want a
coin operated boy
with his pretty coin operated voice
saying that he loves me that hes thinking of me
straight and to the point
that is why i want
a coin operated boy.
