I can handle trance, I'm just not all that fond of the trance (or trance-like) songs in general rotation... it actually puts me to sleep. I didn't see a showtime for trance but maybe there should be a designated time for it instead of the regular mix?

i think we've established that some people do not like specific sub-genres or styles (i do not like the punk-ish guitar laden ones myself), alas ...
to keep it broad and entertaining for a wide variety of people i would not want to change dg for anything and like it the way it is, otherwise i could have chosen a different stream already

Is there a specific artist you're referring to? I don't think I play a lot of stuff that would fit into the trance genre, although I know it's all up for interpretation :)

i've never noticed much trance on here. I suppose some Covenant and VNV is trancy but i wouldn't say it was heavy rotation

I'd imagine he is talking about bands like Juno Reactor (Mona Lisa Overdrive) and Seize (Like the remixes that are in rotation !).
Can't deny those songs are pretty trance-ish, personally I like both of the above artists. Guess it's just a matter of "ignoring" the "bad" songs and hope the next song is better.
It's unbelieveably hard (Read: Impossible) to have all listeners favorite bands 24/7 :)

I dont care for alot of instrumental tracks personally. I wanna hear less powernoise/glitch and ambient type shit.. for sure! Boring.
But lets remember.. its all considered by many.. the same fucking thing lol. Hell ppl who dont know about ebm or industrial-electro. Always call it techno or trance aNYWAYS lol.

I pretty much agree with each and every one of the responses to this post. Sometimes I like a mix of trance in with industrial. if it is done right it works. And I know its done right when it makes me ride hard on my mountain bike.
I sure will be on the hunt to explore that Juno reactor Mona Lisa Overdrive. The book was almost as good as Neuromancer. And that happens to be one of the best reads I have ever done. Before I found DG I used to stream in Proton Radio. Yet my industrial roots keeps me on DG now always. However. I sure dont mind when a good trancy beat is mixed in with industrial. To each their own ehh.

Mona Lisa Overdrive is William Gibsons second book which came after Neuromancer. And both books are fukin great. Burning Chrome was his third book and then Virtual Light Burning Chrome is a book of his short stories. Back in the 80's when I read Neuromancer. I had to start reading it about 4 times so I could understand the techy language he was writting about. Kind of like the way he coined the term cyberspace for the world to use. In Neuromancer, the internet was refered to as the matrix. Or something like that. But back in the 80's. Neuromancer was about the best science fiction that I have ever read and Gibson sure did forcast the computer world the way it is now back then. |
