...strange tho that the link take you to the sparks fly thread That's weird. The google link pointed to the appropriate thread (THIS one) when I first posted that. Did Shirow reorg the database or something? I'm not sure what would cause the topic indexes of a php bb to change...

I love the responses to this post. I can imagine the OP with his ear lobes sagging like taffy, looking rougher than keith richards.
Everyone's made good posts so far, so I figured I'd get personal.

I voted for out-there music.
Psychaotic and I have been LJ-buddies for some time; I've talked to her enough to know that when she posts a rant this long, she's not just spouting off or trying to advertise herself. We have divergent tastes in music, it's true. But I like experimental sounds as well as 16th note pop, and my guess is that I'm not alone.
And EBM has been going downhill. As a fan (4+ years now) of DG, and as a critic: When two hours of music all sound like the same softsynth, you're doing something wrong. When ten tracks in a row have a lead vocal, you're doing something wrong. It's not that hard to fix. Acts like Portion Control, This Morn Omina, and Laibach are making fantastic Industrial that doesn't sound like anyone else. And yes, you can dance to it.
"We're more popular than you" is not a reasonable defense. McDonalds is the most popular restaurant on Earth. Does that mean they serve a quality product?
Of course, EBM can be whatever it wants to be. The real issue is whether DG is going to continue as an *industrial* and EBM station, or not.
And maybe the odd noise collage wouldn't be such a bad idea - who knows?
(listening to Nexus Crawler right now - Australian psy trance)

I simply cannot relate to what you are saying. In my most honest opinion, the kind of industrial they play here is very varied, all from noisy aggrotech to soft synthpop. How can you say that all of today's industrial sound the same? It doesn't, that's what I say. I make industrial myself and I too keep my own sound. It isn't hard at all.
And it sounds mostly like you want to say that your band is so much better than anyone else just because you think different. Well, everyone ARE different and we all think different, it's just that not everybody choose to do different things.
If you hate this music so much, why did you bother writing here? Most likely because you just wanted to advertise for your band.

Simply put, they are upset.
They haven't yet figured out how to brand themselfs. They haven't yet figure out how to communicate. They are trying to get there foot in the door, but rather then knocking and hoping someone come to the door, they just Kick it impatiantly i wonder why the shadows inside will not answer.
If they really wanted us to hear what they have to offer, they would show interest in what we listen to.
I don't know about you but when i was younger and a new kid joined the class I wouldn't be ok if after school they leaned on my door bell till I answered, only to be greated with, "hey i heard you have nintendo, oh my name is so and so, i have atari, get out of my so i can hook it up. I wanna show you the best game in the world."
Before polilty closing the door i think i would say, "I've played atari. I like my nintendo. I play atari at my 'friends' place, we enjoy it there, but thank you." See you at school.

Rather eloquent page, you are gifted with words. General consensus seams to be STFU, but I slightly agree with psych, simply because I can see how these songs all sound the same. But then again, a new time listener to Death Metal would never understand the difference between the bands there until they listened for an ungodly long time.
My question, slightly on topic, does this station play IDM (maybe that's ebm) and "mainstream" industrial like my homeboy Trent, or just this underground and ambient like VnV Nation?
