hi everybody, and greetings from germany.

first and ahead: thanks for this really nice radio station. and thanks to everyone who spends his time to keep it running!

i need a little help from u, though. i lately set up a laptop with ubuntu to surf with and listen to internetradio. unfortunately i can not get the rythmboxplayer to connect with any stream of dg. other stations can be received nicely, though i found that rythmbox seems to have stationpresets that use ogg as mediatype. is there any way for me to receive dg without having to change to windows again?

thank u for ur efforts!

usually i am not that dumb when it comes to pcs.... but this time i need noobinstructions. the plugins mentioned above seem to be installed with this release of ubuntu already. still i downloaded them to my laptop again, just to be safe. so what do i do with that archive? i extracted the files to a folder, but how are they installed to rythmbox? i be glad if someone could provide "instructions for dummies"... ;)

thnx in advance for all efforts.

You should use the add/remove programs function in ubuntu rather than downloading the archives directly.

You should use the add/remove programs function in ubuntu rather than downloading the archives directly.

Though apt-get never failed me when I knew what I wanted.

If none of those players work, try Amarok. I've never had any problems with it when I boot into Debian-based distros.

amarok also needs the gstreamer, but the plugins/codecs can usually be easily aquired by attempting to play a file of the desired breed and hit the right (yes) answer when beeing asked if you want to search for codecs.

if you want german support on that, contact me on one of my instant messengers when im online.

thanks for ur offer, as it seems i will really have to contact u someday or the other on a messanger. the port 80 stream works fine enough with the default videoplayer on ubuntu. as i said, rythmbox doesn't seem to play it, and amarock claims to be playing it, bu i don't get any sound at all from there. somehow ubuntu doesn't seem to be all shiny anymore... :)

maybe someone could post the port 80 links that are usually used to add to external players again?
