i am also considering getting a second tattoo (right now the money is missing, but sooner or later it'll work out ... hopefully soon-ISH)
i want to get the DNA double helix as an open spiral around my upper arm ... BUT ...
so, DNA is looking like a twisted rope ladder (im not going to go into details, you can read that in every biology text book or worst case WIKI)
DNA is made up from a few components, one of them nucleobases
there's 4 different nucleobases (A, T, C and G)
actually ... it'll become a little bit more difficult because DNA is first translated into RNA, which will change all G into C (and vice versa) and all T into A, but all A into U (not T)
each 3 of those (RNA) bases code for one amino acid which can be abbreviated with a single letter from the alphabet (please see
this)
now, there's only 20 amino acids and therefore in some cases more than one triplet of nucleobases can code for one amino acid ... anyway ...
SO .... my idea is to arrange the nucleobases in a form that each 3 will code for specific amino acids which single letters will spell sensible words having meaning to myself
they can spell my first name, my chat name and some other things i might have space for (it all becomes also a matter of scale and size)
added the RNA step between DNA and protein im not sure if i screw the whole science concept and go from DNA directly to amino acids or if i need to use the complementary sequence for DNA to make sure the RNA sequence would be correct to code for all those amino acids .... errrrrrr.....
i got a abstract template for the DNA double helix as well which is
thisif that does not work out, maybe i can go for the stereotypical, cheesy rose ... but then in the ASCII format as well (at my ankle)
