I suppose you could average the current ratings into a single first rating. On the subject of song complaints... "Forced Wide Open" by Decree. Noise and glitch. A few high pitched squeals thrown in for variety. I don't know about the rest of their tracks but I had to turn the speaker way down until this one was over. Thanks!

I'm just going to mention that I have been enjoying most of the new things you've put on the station. There were a few that I didn't much care for, but I didn't dislike them enough to remember what they were.

I'm trying to mix it up a bit, it's probably helped to have a couple of different sets of ears previewing music too.. changes it up a bit.

I like Channel Hell a lot, but since I already have heard it it's not a big deal to me to see it go. I just like, "the scene sucks because you suck, you killed it..." Hahah that's a great line. But yeah, I love the beat and feel of that song, my 2c.

A buddy got a free ticket to KMFDM/angelspit show. I had a healthy laugh because he'd never heard angelspit before. I had another healthy laugh when he reported back his opinion of angelspit after the show.
Did he not like Angelspit? I'm really into them although I think their live show was kinda meh. They seem to be fairly popular but I couldn't tell if anyone at the show was really that into them. I figured it was because KMFDM is reaaally popular and attract lots of people who don't get into the more obscure electronic industrial stuff.

I myself don't really like Angelspit at all. Only one song I like by them (100%) and even that is pushing it for me as far as Angelspit goes.
I just never really got into them, and I probably never will.

He's been in the scene since 95 or so and generally not much of a fan of newer stuff and I knew he wouldn't like Angelspit. It was mostly the look on his face as he tried to describe how horrible they were that made me laugh so much. There was real, raw emotion. It was *that* bad.

Angelspit is a bit.....minimal. Their sound is minimal. Its raw. Too raw, unrefined.
I think most of their fan base and popularity comes from the metal/goth scene and not the industrial one.
Then again, what do I know. I never go to parties and shit. Although, 6 march Suicide Commando! FUCK YEAH!

See the raw and stripped sound is a positive thing for me. They are able to create really thick sounding and memorable songs/beats without overdoing things. They have a deep and loud sound and I love how each song feels different from the others. He did not like angelspit. He's been in the scene since 95 or so and generally not much of a fan of newer stuff and I knew he wouldn't like Angelspit. Ah, see I'm pretty much the opposite. I can't really stand listening to old stuff too often. Once in awhile it's ok, I do listen to older music here and there when I'm in the mood. But for the most part, there's way too much good stuff coming out nowadays to be too wrapped up in things that I've already listened to many many times before. I can see how really popular bands from back in the day have gone downhill. Their new albums are crap compared to their old. (I mean bands like Ministry, Chemlab, KMFDM to some extent, Skinny Puppy to another, TKK... these bands aren't as good as they used to be and I can't get into most of the new stuff they've released.) But as far as new bands/artists go, there is a lot of really amazing stuff being done nowadays that I would put on the same level as any of the "classic" stuff. Edit to add: Wumpscut and Apoptygma, two more bands that are perfect examples of "used to be amazing but can't listen to their new stuff."

Maybe its just me, but Angelspit sounds like stuffing a cat in a blender while monotonically shouting obscenities and banging the silverware drawer open and shut. Just doesn't work for me. I've only been in the scene for 3 or 4 years now, so I'm getting to experience old and new for the first time. Alot of what is out now sounds generic. That doesn't mean it is bad, but the tunes get old fast. I've had better luck, I think, with some of the older stuff - perhaps because with time the older stuff that was worth a damn is still around. It takes years to weed out the generic music.

I won't argue that there is a lot of junk coming out nowadays. It's just that the "oh man, old stuff is so much better than anything happening nowadays" is kinda a pet peeve of mine. There is so much good music coming out nowadays that we can ignore the stuff we don't like, and only pay attention to what we do like. :) Angelspit is definitely identifiable and unique, I can't lump them in with generic or overdone styles. To say that they are generic sounding just doesn't make sense when you consider that there are few if any other bands with that same sound. Not everyone will like it, but they have their own style and it's not fair to say they are generic, or "another band with another record that sounds just like all the others." You could call them talentless hacks if you want, but not generic. ;) All music gets old, imo, no matter the genre or how good the music is. I've listened to industrial for a very long time. Yeah the old classics are really great. But anyone who is a fan of old school industrial will be able to find plenty of current music that will also appeal to them. There is a lot of really amazing stuff being made nowadays. (Yes a lot of crap, too, but I focus on the good stuff, hehe.) Also, you have to admit, banging the silverware drawer open and closed is very industrial. Cats in blenders, not so much... but I see you working.
